K. Wade Trahan


Kevin Wade Trahan graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1986. He attended the Southern University Law Center from which he graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in May of 1990. While at Southern, he was a participating member of Southern’s National Moot Court team.

Mr. Trahan has been in private practice since his admission to the bar. He began his private practice in Abbeville, Louisiana in 1991. His professional practice has been concentrated in civil defense litigation which includes the defense of general liability, health care and municipal liability claims. He has also represented governmental entities as well as energy companies in expropriation matters.

Mr. Trahan has served as the City of Abbeville’s Risk Management Attorney from 1992 to 2001 and since 2004 has served as an Assistant City-Parish Attorney for the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government.

Mr. Trahan is admitted to practice in all State courts in Louisiana, the Supreme Court of the United States of America, all Federal Courts in Louisiana as well as the United States Court of Appeal 5th Circuit. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Mr. Trahan has given presentations to various State and national claims associations on the defense of claims and various insurance issues.

He served for sixteen years on the Board of Directors for the Fifteenth Judicial District Court Indigent Defender Program. He was also appointed by Governor Kathleen Blanco to serve on the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry from 2003-2007.

He is and remains an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Lafayette Parish Bar Association, the Vermilion Parish Bar Association as well as the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and Defense Research Institute.
